An Amazing Toy!

posted Wednesday, 7 May 2008

Today, my kids surprised me with a Teacher Appreciation Week gift that directly pertained to my aspirations in educational technology. Flip Video cameras are portable USB recorders that store up to 60 minutes of high quality AVI video for quick uploading to sites like AOL Video and Youtube. Click here for more info.

Coincidentally, I was looking into buying small video recorder to start video casting with my class. After an inspired conversation that left me wondering how I could ever find the time to convert MiniDV files over and then upload them... the students must have read my mind.

Added bonus: they each put a little video of themselves on the recorder saying something "appreciative" and adorable. I feel so loved.

Wow - you are the lucky one. Your students giving you a video camera. That's a giant message, eh! Sounds like you have an incredibly tech aware bunch of kids. Please write some reviews on how the camera works for you.

Laura,

Don't you just love teacher appreciation day, which could be everyday in your class. Students love to draw pictures, and give you flowers. Congratulations on the video recorder, I hope you enjoy it. .

Yea Laura, that camera is awesome!! Congrats! I hope you get a chance to use it in class, and not only for personal use. I wonder if it can be used as a webcam for skype? That would be cool, if you could record a skype conversation with it....oh the possibilities.
